The Beanbean Kingdom serves as the setting for a quest to rescue Princess Peach from Cackletta. Players control Mario and Luigi, using timed button presses during combat to inflict extra damage or defend against incoming attacks. The duo can perform special tag-team moves and engage in various minigames, such as Border Jump and Mystery Carts, to progress through the adventure.

Hamtaro and his Ham-Ham friends, including Boss, Oxnard, and Pashmina, work together as a unit to collect ingredients required to restore the Prince's rainbow. Players complete various goals and participate in over a hundred mini-games. Using the Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable allows for trading sticker cards with other players.
